Josone Park: It was built at the beginning of the 1940s by the owner of the Arrechavala company, the prestigious twentieth-century Cuban rum factory and distillery, as his private residence and a place to relax. The mansion, Neoclassical in style, is currently a restaurant serving Cuban and international cuisine. With approximately nine hectares of space, Josone Park, centred aroundLagoon, is the largest green area in historic Varadero. Its beautiful shaded gardens contain a variety of natural, historic, architectural and cultural features as well as numerous flowers and birds.
Natural Park of Río Canímar: Around the river Canímar, one of the deepest in Cuba, a park has been created, inviting you to explore its peaceful natural beauty on foot, on horseback or by boat, as well as fishing and snorkelling. This watercourse flows into the bay of Matanzas next to the Morrillo Castle, built in 1720.
Ecological reserve: For several years now the easternmost part of the Hicacos Peninsula has been designated as an ecological reserve for the protection of its flora and fauna. Varahicacos is the name of this significant environmental project which is also aimed at preserving numerous caves containing traces of the island’s first inhabitants.
Plaza América Convention Centre: The main centre for business tourism in Varadero, equipped with the spaces, technology, staff and experience required for this area. One of the highlights of its facilities is the plenary room, accommodating 500 people, and the exhibition area, covering almost 2, 000 m2. Opened in 1997, it recently underwent a complete renovation.
