I want to go to Cuba in 2015! The second best destination in the world, according to The New York Times
Cuba is among the best tourist destinations in the world this year! And we’re not the ones saying so this time. Cuba has been recommended by none other than the famed The New York Times in a list of 52 destinations in its travel section, headed by Milan (Italy) with Cuba as the second favourite option.
Everyone who visits Cuba will be amazed by the number of old cars on the streets. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in Havana, Santiago, Varadero or Trinidad. Wherever you go you’ll see real museum pieces driving around.
The recent opening of new cultural areas and new projects linking art, culture and fun are another of the country’s attractions, especially in the capital, which packs a punch with trendy places, such as the Fábrica de Arte (Art Factory) or the legendary cabarets reviving the glamour of the 1940s and 50s. New privately-managed restaurants and bars have also sprung up in Havana and provincial cities, many of them located in beautiful restored houses.
We are also celebrating Havana’s 2013 Travellers’ Choice award as one of the ten best destinations in the Caribbean, and more recently the honour of Havana being chosen by global voting as one of the New7Wonders Cities.
Visiting Cuba means taking a walk along its streets, admiring its nostalgic atmosphere, discovering its food that awakens your palate, sitting in the Malecón, smoking a Havana cigar, strolling through the historic centre. At night… dancing with “tumbaos” on every street corner, drinking a Santiago rum, witnessing the nightly cannon fire… in short soaking up the local colour and being inspired by the country’s cheerful people, who make this small island a truly extraordinary place.
