Where in the month of February could you find a destination that combines culture, beaches, warm weather and good music? The only answer is Cuba… and if you really want to have fun, we recommend the Havana World Music Festival, returning this year on 6 and 7 February in Havana’s Metropolitan Park, with performances by some great Cuban and international bands.
The guest performers will include the French DJ Philippe Cohen Solal, one of the members of Gotan Project, the multi-instrumentalist David Walters, from France, the Mexican Institute of Sound and the electrofolk project by Camilo Lara, one of the leading exponents of alternative music in Latin America. From Africa, the Moroccan singer Aziz Sahmaoui and his band University of Gnawa will be performing traditional Maghreb music mixed with jazz and rock among other rhythms. The Spanish band Muchachito Bombo Infierno will also be appearing, with a fusion of flamenco, funk and rock – their own personal style.
From Cuba, there will be performances by Isaac Delgado, the jazz pianist Roberto Fonseca, Yusa, Tony Ávila and Alain Pérez.
This Festival is an event designed to promote cultural diversity through music and to provide an opportunity for artists, producers and promoters to come together, offering the audience two unforgettable nights of amazing music against the backdrop of the iconic Malecón.
Your best accommodation option is, of course, offered by Meliá Cuba in its 3 ideally-located urban hotels: Meliá Cohiba, Meliá Habana and Tryp Habana Libre. This is a date with Havana that you can’t afford to miss!
