Exploring western Cuba guarantees memorable adventures, highly recommended for anyone aiming to combine culture and nature with some rest and relaxation on its amazing beaches. Today we suggest a seven-day tour around the region with stops at three of its most popular destinations: Havana, Viñales and Varadero.
Day 1. A first look at Havana
The first day starts in Havana, where you can quickly immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere in the city and explore its most iconic attractions from the moment you arrive. Stroll around the cobblestone streets of Old Havana and visit the Plaza de Armas and Havana Cathedral before enjoying a famous mojito at the iconic bar La Bodeguita del Medio or in the bars at the INNSiDE Habana Catedral or the Hotel Sevilla Affiliated by Meliá. A stroll along the Malecón seafront promenade at sunset is the ideal way to end the day and take in all the local energy, followed by dinner at the Sierra Maestra Restaurant and live music at the Club Turquino at the Tryp Habana Libre or an evening at the Habana Café at the Meliá Cohiba.

Day 2. Exploring modern Havana
Spend the second day getting to know the more modern parts of Havana and the rich culture of the city. Take a tour around Vedado to see the monumental Plaza de la Revolución and the architectural treasure of the Cementerio de Colón. Continue towards the Miramar district lying alongside the majestic Fifth Avenue. The evening should be spent enjoying a very special dinner or just admiring a cultural experience in the Plaza Costa Habana at the Meliá Habana Hotel or other options such as the shows at the Cabaret Tropicana or the Parisien at the Hotel Nacional.

Day 3. Admiring the beautiful Viñales Valley
The third day starts with the journey to Viñales, around three hours from Havana. The charming town of Viñales will welcome you on arrival with a laid-back atmosphere and a stunning natural environment. Spend the afternoon visiting the Mural de la Prehistoria and admiring the panoramic views of the Viñales Valley from its different viewpoints. The evening should be spent savouring dinner in a welcoming private home restaurant and just relaxing and enjoying quiet small-town life.
Day 4. Adventure among the limestone “Mogotes”
The fourth day is full of outdoor adventures. In the morning, take a horseback or hiking excursion through the valley, where you can visit tobacco plantations and learn about the manufacturing process of the famous Cuban cigars. In the afternoon you can visit the Cueva del Indio and take a boat trip along its underground river. End the day with dinner overlooking the valley, taking in all the serenity of the surrounding area.

Day 5. Head towards stunning beaches
The fifth day starts with the transfer to Varadero. After arrival, the turquoise waters and white sand beaches are the ideal place to relax after several hours on the road. We recommend you stay at one of our hotels on what is known as the bluest beach in the world, taking advantage of the afternoon to rest, relax and enjoy a delicious cocktail alongside the sea.

Day 6. An all-inclusive Varadero experience
On the sixth day you can focus on fully enjoying your all-inclusive accommodation and all the attractions in the destination. Spend the day on the amazing beaches and try some water activities such as snorkelling, scuba diving or catamaran trips. If you prefer something a little quieter, you can visit the town or the Varahicacos Ecological Reserve to admire all the spectacular flora and fauna. End the day with dinner overlooking the sea and the beautiful sunset.

Day 7. Back to the start
On the seventh and final day you will return to Havana to get your flight home, a journey of around two and a half hours. Use the afternoon to do your last-minute shopping at the local markets for souvenirs such as Cuban handicrafts, cigars and coffee. If you’re flying home out of Varadero airport, you have the luxury of being able to spend a few more hours relaxing by the sea.
