Three beaches near hotels managed by Meliá Cuba were named in the Best Beaches Report 2024 from the International Training Centre for Beach Management and Certification (CIFPLAYAS) and the Federal University of Rio Grande (Brazil).
Experts and academics prepared the list based on an analysis that considers four dimensions: recreation, protection, conservation and health.
These general parameters are evaluated using a series of indicators, with the result that the beach at the Meliá Las Antillas achieved the highest score of all the beaches analysed, with a score of 95 out of 100. The hotel scored highly in all aspects, including environmental quality, storm protection, services and infrastructure. According to the CIPLAYAS analysis, “the beach is well known for its fine white sand, its crystal-clear waters, excellent conservation and the work done to restore its dunes and vegetation. It has an impeccable comprehensive management system and offers all the services expected at tourist beaches, with a sustainable design and operational model”. Meliá International Varadero makes the ranking for the second consecutive year, and this year achieves fourth position, with a score of 93 out of 100 for its stunning stretch of white sands and turquoise waters.
The Perla Blanca Beach near the Paradisus Los Cayos in Cayo Santa María took eighth place, with a score of 90 out of 100.
The Best Beaches Report 2024 was compiled by 46 experts, including oceanographers, engineers, geographers, chemists and scholars. The methodology was applied to 123 beaches in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
