Meliá Cuba attends FITCuba 2025 to share all our latest news

Meliá Hotels International Cuba is once again taking part in FITCuba, the island’s most important tourism event, held in the historic setting of the San Carlos de la Cabaña fortress and Tres Reyes del Morro castle.

This year, we also celebrate a special milestone—35 years since our arrival in Cuba. This achievement reflects a deep dedication to the values that have shaped our journey—advancing sustainable tourism, crafting exceptional experiences, and strengthening cultural connections.

With 2025 marking another year of expansion, we proudly introduce the latest innovations in our products and offerings:

We will start managing the Gran Hotel Bristol in Old Havana under The Meliá Collection brand on June 1, in partnership with the Gaviota Group. This luxurious hotel boasts stunning views of the Capitol from its rooftop, and will be the debut of our “The Meliá Collection” brand in Cuba.

For the upcoming high season, we are introducing two new projects in partnership with Gran Caribe. In Varadero, the beachfront Sol Hicacos Varadero will offer vibrant vacations for families and friends, featuring 268 rooms housed in charming bungalows amid a lush natural environment.

Meanwhile, in Cienfuegos, we are fully renovating the historic Jagua to unveil the future INNSiDE Cienfuegos Jagua—a perfect haven for urban explorers and circuit travellers in the heart of the Pearl of the South. This renovation harmonises the INNSiDE brand’s open-space concept with the preservation of architectural treasures like towers, porticos, and the Palacio del Valle itself.

Beyond the new additions to our portfolio, we are advancing an ambitious renovation plan. By the end of 2024, infrastructure enhancements at Meliá Cayo Coco will be completed, unveiling a refreshed aesthetic across key areas—a redesigned lobby, an updated buffet, and exciting new spaces, including an Italian speciality restaurant and a terrace overlooking the lagoon, perfect for taking in breathtaking sunset views. The renovation of The Level and its rooms at Meliá Cohiba is also now complete.

Meanwhile, in partnership with Cubanacán and MIRAMAR, we continue upgrading Meliá Varadero and Sol Palmeras, where new rooms blend rest and relaxation with the essence of the tropics. At Meliá Habana, innovation remains key—offering standout experiences like Plaza Costa Habana, where cuisine and culture combine to perfection. Now, the hotel is embarking on a renovation of its rooms and The Level area to further enhance the traveller experience.

Another key milestone is the launch of MESOL, our dedicated import company. With its own warehouses and distribution network, it ensures hotels meet brand standards while efficiently addressing their needs; and the support of Solways (DMC and strategic partner of Meliá), whose services are pivotal in enhancing guest experiences and complementing our hotel offerings.

Meliá Cuba’s innovation goes beyond its facilities—it shapes the very essence of our product design. We’re relaunching our renowned wedding and honeymoon programme, perfected over three decades: Romance by Meliá Cuba. With complimentary wedding packages, expert coordinators, and breathtaking venues overlooking the sea, our hotels provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable celebrations.

This offering expands to include long-stay vacations, golf retreats at specialist hotels, wellness escapes with activities and nature experiences in dream destinations like Paradisus Río de Oro, and expertly hosted meetings and events across the island. Whatever your reason for travel, every guest will find experiences that meet their needs and desires in our 35 hotels across all of our brands: The Meliá Collection, Paradisus by Meliá, Meliá Hotels & Resorts, INNSiDE by Meliá and Sol by Meliá.

All our hotels and facilities remain committed to environmental and technological efficiency. Our policy integrates key elements such as coastal ecosystem preservation, waste and water management, energy sustainability, and continuous training, ensuring responsible operations across the country, and are an inseparable part of the Meliá global DNA.

As a result, many of our beach areas have been certified by CITMA as Environmental Beaches, we have earned specialist accreditations, and we continue to implement contemporary sustainability concepts—most notably in Meliá Trinidad Península, the first energy-self-sufficient hotel in the country. The hotel has recently been honoured with the National Energy Efficiency Award in the services and tourism industry, a testament to its commitment to sustainability.

As we embrace new challenges, we remain steadfast in the principles that have shaped our success in recent years—most notably, advances in digitalisation. This transformation allows us to personalise every stage of the journey, optimize guest feedback, and strengthen customer loyalty.

We remain dedicated to ensuring that our hotels, teams, and partners serve as a gateway to Cuba’s natural beauty, rich culture, and history, reflecting the warmth, charisma, and hospitality of its people. Discovering the soul of this island continues to inspire us, a spirit we bring to platforms like this blog, social media, and the recently launched Meliá Cuba Podcast.

Our commitment to Cuba drives us to keep innovating—always thinking of how to do more… and do it better.
