But, are Meliá Hotels in Cuba ready to accommodate remote workers?
To help you answer this, we have prepared a list of the most frequent questions posed by our loyal and potential customers since the program was first launched a few months back.
1. What are the benefits of the “Workation” program in Cuba?
The benefits of this new way of working remotely at Meliá hotels in Cuba include 24 hours high quality broadband Internet connection and tech support, hotel or apartment accommodation, professional settings adapted to the “work your way” concept, services for families, special rates for document printing, networking events, special discounts for long stays and extra services, such as the hire of private function rooms and a laundry service. This offer is valid for a minimum stay of 14 or more nights.
2. Which hotels are included in the program?
Meliá Habana and Meliá Varadero, Meliá International Varadero and Meliá Marina Varadero Apartments will be hotels ready to welcome teleworkers with all the guarantees of the “Stay Safe with Meliá” program and safety certification of Ministries of Tourism and Health of the island.
3.Where can I book them?
You can book them through our websites www.meliacuba.com and www.melia.com and the distribution channels of Meliá Cuba’s business partners.
4.Will I have broadband Internet to perform high-speed demanding tasks?
Yes! All hotels involved in the program will have full and unlimited WI-FI coverage in common and private areas. You will be able to engage in high resolution video calls in your App of choice with your teammates or business partners, keep your files and tasks updated in your clouds, watch HD trainings and professional content, log in your company’s online systems safely, produce live videos, update your Social Media profiles and more.
5.Will I be accessing Internet as a private user or through the regular NAUTA Card?
The WI-FI network will be accessed following international standards through a user/password authentication and not via the hourly Nauta cards you usually find in Cuba hotels.
6.Can I use my mobile phone in the hotel?
You can telework from Cuba and still use your phone by buying a local SIM Card at an affordable price, thus, cutting the high roaming costs. You will be able to make international calls and access internet via mobile data through attractive and cost-saving plans. You can keep it for a lifetime as long as you meet the terms and conditions of the service established by the provider.
7. What spaces will be available to work?
As you will be connected in many zones of the hotel you will be free to work in the area of your preference, however, conditions will be created in rooms and meeting rooms (co-working spaces) so you can create your own private or shared working environment. Tables, chairs and several plugs to connect your devices will be available in these two spaces for unlimited use.
8. If I need assistance or specialized support who should I contact?
For additional requests and personalized services, you can contact our Work from Cuba Coordinator in your hotel of choice, who will be your host along your stay. If you have questions or concerns regarding services, or need for extra support of any kind, this will be the person to call. For general questions of the program you can contact us at workfromcuba@meliacuba.com .
