The World Travel Awards were created 22 years ago to acknowledge, reward and celebrate the excellence of all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the World Travel Awards are the equivalent of the Oscars for the tourism sector and are recognised worldwide as the ultimate seal of quality.
The annual programme is recognised as the most prestigious and extensive of the travel and tourism sector. In 2014, more than 650, 000 individual votes were cast by travel professionals and consumers of high-end tourism. Every year, the organisers of this event travel the world, staging a series of regional galas to acknowledge and celebrate individual and group success. All of the regional winners then go head to head in a final round of voting to see who will triumph at the World Travel Awards 2015.
This year, Meliá Cuba is celebrating the nomination of six of its hotels and resorts in three different categories: Best Hotel in Cuba, Best Resort in Cuba, Best Spa in Cuba. ParadisusRío de Oro (Holguín), Paradisus Varadero and Paradisus Princesa del Mar (Varadero), the three stylish Ultra All Inclusive eco-resorts run by Meliá Hotels International in Cuba, top the list, as well as Meliá Las Dunas (Cayo Santa María), Meliá Cayo Coco (Cayo Coco) and the iconic Meliá Cohiba (Havana).
