Havana for honeymooners: 5 travel tips!

Pareja_CORPORATE ALT V3.mov_snapshot_01.19__4

Havana will always be a perfect destination for those who found “the one” and wish to celebrate love in a fitting ambiance. Whether you prefer long walks or perhaps a quieter plan like a dinner by the candles with that special person, this city offers the opportunity of being seduced by seducing lovers at the same time. These are five things you can do if you are in Havana and carry a  “just married” sign with you.

Promenade by the Malecon

Sunset would be the ideal time to enjoy this walk. A lot is always happening in that so  “habanera” area and you two will have the chance to interact with a common Cuban afternoon while witnessing –if not the best- one of the greatest natural shows in the city: watching how the sun goes down in a perfect harmony with the sound of waves to be welcomed by the horizon… Don’t forget to take pictures, the view is breathtaking.

Romantic date night

If you are staying in any of Melia’s urban hotels, a dinner in one of its specialized restaurants would make a dream night of your stay. I can assure you that this experience will be unique, just make sure you arrange all the details in advance, so that your date with him/her goes as desired. A few recommendations for restaurants would be Sierra Maestra at Tryp Habana Libre, considered as one of the best restaurants of the capital, not to mention its marvelous view from the 25th floor of the building; the Habana Café at Melia Cohiba, a great space decorated in the style of the 50’s with a brilliant live show starring the classic group Buena Vista Social Club and of course, dinner service and finally, a place to combine the charms of the city and the sea, the restaurant La Scala at Melia Habana with its divine selection of wines.

Touring Havana City

Don’t you find it extremely motivating when you learn about something together? I love what it feels to share all that information I suddenly come across with my special person. And in a city full of history and interesting facts, booking a city tour is a wonderful idea you could both enjoy. I advise you to do a little research first about those points in Havana that you don’t want to miss, those places you find most attractive and prepare to experience a day full of discoveries. You can then create a scrap book of you two with the highlights of your day. I find the idea fascinating!

Beach day

Just because you are in the city, does not mean that you cannot enjoy one of the features that best describes Cuba: its beaches. So if you are in Havana, feel free to take a jump to the well-known beaches in the East and get all the perks of the Caribbean sunny days with your loved ones.

Exploring around

Speaking of taking jumps, being in Havana is the perfect starting point to a little one-day field trip to a nearby destination like Viñales or Las Terrazas. Do not miss the chance to visit these places. It will be an ecological journey to a green paradise with as much as clear waters for bathing, such is the case of the river of San Juan in Las Terrazas. You will love the peace that provides this natural environment, and for a day, while staying in the capital, you both will get to know the blessings of some of the best Cuban countryside settings.

Las Terrazas

These are only a few recommendations of the many more activities you can carry out in Havana with your newlywed. Do not hesitate to look for more things to do while you are here on honeymoon. This city, where love is such an important part of our daily routine, is a place like no other to create the first memories of your life together.
