MICE, a segment on the rise for Meliá Hotels International in Cuba

Since it first established in Cuba, Meliá Hotels International has focused on the MICE segment as one of its core products. The facilities offered by its hotels have consolidated the leadership of the chain in the sector with large multipurpose rooms and alternative locations, excellent gastronomic services and housing infrastructure.

On this behalf, it comes as no surprise, the selection of the emblematic Meliá Cohiba hotel as the venue for the 22nd edition of MITM Americas Havana, a pioneering MICE B2B fair and the most influential in the Americas. For the second time, this hotel -a referent in Havana for organizing meetings, events and congresses- will be the center of the activities that will be held between September 18 and 21th.

As part of the MITM program, the participating buyers will have the opportunity to learn of the MICE product of Meliá Cuba as part of the post-event trips organized to the destinations of Cayo Santa María, Cienfuegos and Varadero. Hotels such as Meliá Las Dunas, Meliá Las Américas, Meliá Varadero, Paradisus Varadero, Paradisus Princesa del Mar, Meliá San Carlos, La Unión by Meliá and Jagua by Meliá will be the center of interest.

The post-event includes a visit to Paradisus Los Cayos, the company’s next opening in Cayo Santa María.. The fourth Paradisus hotel of the firm in Cuba and the first of new generation in the company, will open its doors in December 2018. Due to it facilities for the development of events and incentive travel, it is expected to be new epicenter of major events in the destination.


Also this year, Meliá Cuba will be opening the new and majestic Meliá Internacional located in the most famous resort of Cuba: Varadero. This hotel, to start operating in the last days of the year, will offer extensive facilities for the MICE segment: a modern convention center with 7 meeting spaces and a Ballroom of more than 1000m2, as well as alternative locations in gardens, beach and swimming pool.


These two new resorts reinforce the company’s position in the MICE niche and its commitment to offer a high standard products that will improve the MICE customer experience, in line with the current and future trends of the segment.
