The fifth Oktoberfest International Beer Festival (Antillas Beer Fest) is the last one of the series of events organized by Melia Cuba this year and will be taking place in Melia Las Antillas Resort, in Varadero. An entire week to taste brands from the best beer in the world, play and make fun along with the other adepts of the show, themed meals, competitions, dancing lessons and the election of a King and Queen Beer, like King Ludwig I and Queen Therese!
With an entertainment team and a welcome party with live music you will be given the details of the program, which includes so many games. From the first day darts , treasure hunt, hammer striking , and of course the beer shooter game will take place.
Right before the ‘’Oktoberfest day’’, which will take place on the 28th of September, a Cuban Party will harmonize the event, opening the day with a music group and Cuban Conga will rule all day long. In honor of the festival, all the activities will be related with beer: bowling with beers, drinking beer through straws and my favorite the sack relay race holding a beer!
The highlight of the festival will be on the fourth day (Oktoberfest day), where typical German and Cuban dishes will be tasted. On the other hand, beer will be part of a competition in which one must recognize the brand while blindfolded. Would you be able to build a beer pyramid? And if so , how tall would it be? You can try and build one this day while dancing to live music in the style of the greatest popular German party.
Last day of the festival will bring still many more games including those involving swimming with beer and archery with beer. And finally, those participants with the highest overall score during the Oktoberfest games, will be awarded a one-week free stay at Melia las Antillas, the resort hosting the event. The crowning of the King and Queen Beer will also take place , and the journey will end with a fun night at the disco.
The program will finish on the 30th of September with a relaxation day on the beach and other facilities of the hotel, perfect to take back all the energy used by playing games (and drinking beer!! )
Today , the Oktoberfest is the largest Festival in the world and a glimpse of this event will be present in Cuba by the hand of Melia Hotels International. The locals of Theresienwiese (Theresa’s fields) still celebrate this tradition and refer to it simply as the “Wies’n”. That’s why “welcome to the Wies’n” means nothing other than “welcome to the Oktoberfest”! So be very welcome to the Wies’n!
